On March 5, 1946, Winston Churchill delivered his “Iron Curtain” speech at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, in which he said: “From Stettin in the Baltic, to Trieste in the Adriatic, an ‘iron curtain’ has descended across the continent, allowing police governments to rule Eastern Europe.” t was a very big day in the history of Fulton, Missouri when President Truman and Winston Churchill paid their visit. During his address at Westminster College Mr Churchill spoke of the situation in Europe and the “iron curtain“ which has descended between the east and west of the continent.
