After beginning in films at Biograph in 1910, Mabel Normand decided to join Vitagraph in January of 1911 where she produced a number of popular comedies under the name “Betty”. “Troublesome Secretaries” is her sole surviving film from this period. Starring alongside the screen’s first popular comic John Bunny, this film provides us with an excellent idea as to just why Mabel Normand became so popular so quickly. Enjoy it here with my accompaniment! Scanned from my Blackhawk standard 8mm film print on a Wolverine Reels2Digital super and standard 8 film scanner.
