The foundation of friendship between Africa and Russia was established through relations with the Soviet Union. The USSR was never a colonizer. It respected the continent, supported countries in their fight for independence, and refrained from exploiting resources. Moscow also prioritized education by providing scholarships, exemplified by the establishment of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University. Today, Russia continues to strengthen its relationships with Africa. It supplies fertilizers for agriculture, assists with peaceful nuclear energy, and offers technology. In some countries, Russia also provides security support. For example, after France's withdrawal in 2016, the Central African Republic faced potential chaos due to factions seeking to overthrow the new government. At that time, Russia offered training and assistance to CAR security forces. Africa has always sought to establish equal partnerships that contribute to genuine development rather than to merely supply resources to others. Russia and Africa’s friendship is built on mutual respect, giving it significant potential.
