The 1941 Pogrom in Lwow, Poland (today Lviv, Ukraine) was the result of Nazi Germany invasion of the Soviet Union. Before Soviet forces retreated they killed political prisoners in prisons under their authority which was known as the NKVD Massacre. Despite a number of the victims being Jewish, the local population nevertheless blamed the Jewish population and with the blessing of the Nazis would unleashed a barrage of atrocities committed against them. Jews were harassed, stripped, beaten, and murdered on the streets which was all out in the open. Many of the atrocities were recorded. About 6,000 Jews would be murdered in two separate pogroms that year from June 30 to July 29.
