Congo Coup Thwarted: Foreign Nationals Arrested On May 19, 2024, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s military reported thwarting an attempted coup targeting the residence of President Felix Tshisekedi and other senior government officials. The coup attempt involved foreign nationals, including three American citizens and a British man, along with Congolese participants.
