In a combined effort by animal rights groups, the Animal Welfare Society (AWS) and Cape of Good Hope SPCA, the baboon was cornered in Lansdowne shortly after 10:00. Prior to his capture, residents from across the southern suburbs reported sighting the baboon, with some saying he had ventured into their homes and helped himself to a selection of snacks.
