What is syndactyly? Having fingers or toes that are joined is called syndactyly (sin-DAK-til-ee). In most cases, the digits are joined side-by-side only by skin or other soft tissue, which may look webbed. The fingernails or toenails may also be joined. Sometimes the digits are joined at the bone. Apoptosis is a form of programmed cell death that occurs in multicellular organisms. Biochemical events lead to characteristic cell changes and death. These changes include blebbing, cell shrinkage, nuclear fragmentation, chromatin condensation, DNA fragmentation, and mRNA decay. Cytokinesis is the part of the cell division process during which the cytoplasm of a single eukaryotic cell divides into two daughter cells. Cytoplasmic division begins during or after the late stages of nuclear division in mitosis and meiosis. n cell biology, mitosis is a part of the cell cycle in which replicated chromosomes are separated into two new nuclei. Cell division gives rise to genetically identical cells in which the total number of chromosomes is maintained. Therefore, mitosis is also known as equational division. #Genetics #Syndactyly #apoptosis #cytokinesis #mitosis
