I was disappointed that PIPPI GOES ON BOARD (1969) didn't have its own clumsy and dated TV spot. So I made one myself. Coming in at Number 29 on my Top 30 Favorite Films list is PIPPI GOES ON BOARD (1969), the least ambitious of the Swedish “Pippi” movies. Screw their adventure in the South Seas, this is my favorite. Stitched together using outtakes from the first film—and hilariously dubbed by a cast of Long Islanders—PIPPI GOES ON BOARD is an awkward, meandering masterpiece; a stoney hodgepodge of pointless sequences featuring Pippi and her friends tramping around town, showing complete disregard for property laws while irritating the shit out of each other and everyone else. Tommy and Annika openly kvetch about Pippi’s shoes, games, and songs. In turn, Pippi plays cruel jokes on them involving guns, drugs, owls, and sinking boats. She makes Annika cry, and compromises Tommy’s manhood by spraying ladies’ perfume in his face. Then she throws panties at her horse, traps her monkey in a laundry bask
