HP Umpire Jeremy Riggs ejected Mets manager Luis Rojas following a fair ball call that led to three runs scoring for Pittsburgh. Report: Pirates batter Kevin Newman hit a slow ground ball up the third base line, where it was touched by the glove of New York pitcher Taijuan Walker while on or over fair territory, resulting in a fair ball call. As the ball deflected into foul territory between home plate and the third-base dugout, the Mets appeared to argue the call while Pittsburgh's baserunners continued running the bases, resulting in three runs scoring during the live ball. Rojas appeared to make contact during his argument with Riggs and upon umpire conference the play stood as called. Also includes prior analysis of the fair/foul rule for batted balls on the infield.
