Another perspective of the 8mm MG42 German. As you can see, this gun is mounted on a post war MG3 tripod. We are still restoring the original WWII Lafette tripod and will post videos of it in the future. The finish on this particular MG42 still retains the clear phosphate coating that was used just before the end of the war. It looks to be painted silver but it is not. Germany was in such a hurry to field every MG42 they built they would often skip the bluing process. If you also note, the gun generates a high degree of heat and the front booster cone can be seen smoking alot after firing. It was almost impossible to change the barrel with a fresh one without the aid of an asbestos mitten or heavy cloth rag. Enjoy!
