Rendered in Khayal style, this volume features the ragas of the second segment of the afternoon. The afternoon shows a wide variety of moods and flavours and in the Sarangs, the most common characteristic is the strong shuddh rishabh. The tunes symbolize control, stability and contentment. The ragas in this volume include raga Brindavani Sarang, rendered on flute by Hariprasad Chaurasia. One may imagine that this is how Krishna must have played for the gopis in Brindavan. This is followed by raga Madhmad Sarang, sung by Pandit Jasraj and raga Dhani rendered by Shahid Parvez on the sitar.
