A gyroscope inspired by videos at and also by a site describing and simulating the theory at The gyroscope was made from an 80mm diameter brass blank, scrap aluminium, silver steel, brass rod and a pair of 684 bearings. The gyroscope has to be run up above 10,000rpm to be able to support itself horizontally. This was achieved by connecting a Dremel to the end of the shaft using a brass cup to form a friction drive.
