Yet when God said Abram shall no longer be called Abram - sure enough, from that point on he wasn't called Abram, but Abraham. But not so with Jacob. Why? Is there a pattern in the usage of “Jacob“? Is there a pattern in the usage of “Israel“? Could it be that “Jacob“ is used when referring the the carnal man? And “Israel“ is used when referring the the spiritual man?
