The controversial statue of John Deighton, known as “Gassy Jack,“ was toppled during the Women's March on February 14. Indigenous activists say statue is a constant reminder of violence and oppression. The Squamish Nation began working on the removal of the statue 2 years ago with the City of Vancouver.
