Lewis Capaldi fan whose son has Tourettes reveals why his Glastonbury set left her in tears after fans had to finish his performance for him A mother of a boy with Tourette syndrome has shared how she was moved to tears by Lewis Capaldi’s performance at Glastonbury 2019, when the singer lost his voice mid-song and the crowd sang along for him. Maria, from Drochia, Moldova, said she and her 12-year-old son Alex, who has Tourette syndrome, are huge fans of the Scottish singer-songwriter, who revealed his own diagnosis of the condition last year. Tourette syndrome is a disorder that involves repetitive movements or unwanted sounds (tics) that can’t be easily controlled. For example, a person might repeatedly blink their eyes, shrug their shoulders or blurt out unusual sounds or offensive words. Maria said she and Alex watched Capaldi’s set on YouTube and were amazed by his courage and talent. She said they were especially touched by the moment when he struggled to finish his hit song
