Timing starts when you first start moving and ends on the loading screen (screen freezes as it loads) after talking to Galdryn. Something interesting about this game is its terrain (the mountains, rocks, trees, etc.). It’s different in the v1.0 release (v1.0 - v1.4) than in the v1.5 CE release. This completely changes the locations at which you can get OoB (on top of the mountains) and even the demon spine things that are in and around the demon world area are different. These different locations to get OoB and to get into the demon world save a lot of time over the v1.5 CE release of this game. Another time saver is the final boss fight, in v1.3 and onward the final boss fight gets a massive buff (he gets armor, nova spells, summon spell, and a better breath attack). So fighting him in v1.1 or v1.0 is much faster since you hit him for more damage and more often (and if you are wearing the ring of protection, he can only damage you with his melee attacks). There is no real difference to the speedrun between v1.0 and v1.1. I just decided to use the v1.1 patch because there are some minor visual glitches that can happen in the menus that get fixed.
