We decided to look for a fix right then and there. I eventually found out that playing the game in windowed mode is the sole cause, so if you play the part with the imp in full screen the glitch never happens. So all you have to do is switch to full screen right before the imp, and switch back afterward. Never get the imp glitch again! Orig. Stream Date: September 1, 2014 Game: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (PC) Orig. Video: Haha, oh how naive I was. Quite some time went by after this stream before I tried to play the game again, and discovered that this “fix“ was only a stroke of luck. The next time I played, I could not get past that imp no matter how hard I tried. I honestly have no idea what the hell is wrong with the game all of a sudden. In 2013 it worked perfectly fine! Many years before that, it worked perfectly fine! But suddenly it wasn’t just breaking on me, but on my friend Vult as well!? I’m clueless. If you try playing this game and this fix works, congrats on getting lucky! EDIT 3: At ESA 2015, Respirte explained while running the game that the imp glitch only happens if the game is running at a framerate higher than 60 FPS ( So the TRUE fix is to cap the game’s framerate at or below 60. Apparently you can do this by going into your graphics card setting and enabling vsync for . I have yet to test this myself, but if a pretty successful HP speedrunner says it works, I believe it! EDIT2: A real fix has been found! Thanks to BlackWolfy90! You just need to “navigate to the file in the installation folder. Set D3D as the active RenderDevice if it’s not already set. scroll down to D3DRenderDevice settings, and change ReduceMouseLag to False.“ I have tested this myself, and it seems to work perfectly! If you attempt this method, it is best to make a copy of the file on your desktop or somewhere as a backup, in case you mess up. Have fun with the now (mostly) bug free game! EDIT: So when playing this game again recently (), I came up with another theory and tried another fix (). I think maybe the game glitches out so much now because of Windows 7/8/10. Something about the new operating system must make it not work well, because when I remember it working perfectly I was using Windows XP. I’d love to test it on a virtual machine, but I can’t, so if someone else would like to do that and let me know if it works better or not that would be great! Now the new fix I learned (I didn’t discover it, VulteTLZ told me about it) is to simply save at the book before the imp, and reload. You may have to reload a number of times but eventually it should let you defeat the imp. This isn’t exactly viable for a speedrun, but at least you can keep playing! Watch live at
