It is a coastal bay on the west side of the Manhood Peninsula in West Sussex, England. The bay looks out onto the English Channel and the Isle of Wight is visible from the beach, as is the Nab Tower lighthouse and the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. The villages of Bracklesham and East Wittering are situated in the centre of the bay and it is bordered by the town of Selsey on the southern/eastern tip, and the village of West Wittering on the west side. Bracklesham Bay is a predominantly shingle beach, which becomes sandier towards the water’s edge. When the tide is out, a large, area of wet sand, interspersed by wooden groynes is exposed. This disappears underwater when the tide comes back in. The beach is backed by the village and overlooks the bay, both of which share its name. From the beach there are views across to the Isle of Wight in the distance. A number of activities such as swimming, and water sports are popular at the beach.
