The Maldives is an open challenge to India with China, having entered with military support is important to nip the problem in the bug, and once, and for all ensure that the Maldives does not become a base against India which is likely if the present gene is allowed to continue. There is thus a need for proactive action by the Indian government to ensure that the Maldives remain in the Indian sphere of influence.
