Part of the 2022 Headcorn Battle of Britain Airshow was this representation of an 'airfield attack' by a German Luftwaffe ME109 - played by the Aircraft Restoration Company's Spanish built Merlin engined version, Hispano HA-1112 M1L Buchon , G-AWHK, flown by John Romain MBE. A pair of 'defending' Spitfires take off to deal with the 'enemy' aircraft. The first is Aero Legends single seat Spitfire HF , TD314, G-CGYJ, flown by ex Royal Air Force 'Red Arrows' and 'Battle of Britain memorial Flight pilot, Flight Lieutenant Antony 'Parky' Parkinson MBE. This is joined by Aero Legends two seat Spitfire (T), NH341, G-CICK, flown by Flight Lieutenant Charlie Brown. SPITFIRE MKIX TD314 TD314 was built at Castle Bromwich in late 1944 and fitted with a Merlin 70 as a High Level Fighter (HFIXE).
