This video is made up of three chapters, namely The Holy Land, Battle for Jerusalem and The Crusades Have Begun, of Farya Faraji's ( @faryafaraji ) brilliant new symphony, The Crusader. These sections are based on the 13th century Palästinalied by Walther von der Vogelweide, a melody that has been preserved to this day. I was honoured to have my Latin translation of Palästinalied featured in the symphony, and that's what you can hear in this video. Please go and check out the symphony - it's a piece of art and could teach you a thing or two about how the First Crusade went down! You can listen to it here: Lyrics: Prima vice vivo vere quia ego peccator video nobilitatem huius terrae cui tantus honor datur; ideo, nostrum maximum opus: ad locum illum venimus in quo ut homo ibat Deus. Terrae pulchrae et divites, sicut alibi vidi. Tu honor omnium eorum es. Talia miracula hic! Ex Virgine natus est angelorum omnium Rex. Haec hominis cara prex! Christiani, iudaei et ethnici sunt ob terram hanc inimici. Arbitrium Dei vicit, in nomine triplici. Hic est pax perusta! Est petitio nostra iusta! Nobis dabitur terra venusta! Hic baptizatus est, Purus, ut homines essent puri. Ibi Dominus venditus, ut servi essemus liberi. Alioquin perditi essemus! Ave, Hasta, Spina, Crux! Vae paganis! Vobis vulnus!
