Bones. Brittle, bleached bones. Fleeing the all-consuming forest fires that destroyed their habitat, these bones found their final resting place here. A few minutes later, from the upper part of the cave wall, a burst of soft singing started filling the gaps between female's syllables. Of course! These wrens are antiphonal! They sing in duets between males and females, changing phrases and complementing each other. This male, one of the last of them, must have been responding to the female's call.
