In this video, we look at the armour and protective gear worn by a Parliamentarian cavalry trooper during the English Civil War. Simon, a reenactor from the Worcestershire Cavalry, explains that the Roundheads fighting for Parliament were well suppled with weapons and equipment. From the recognisable three-bar pot helmet with lobster tail, to the leather buff coat which was effective against sword blows, the mounted soldier during the 17th century could count on effective protection.
