#Mantra #Chanting #Healing The Dhanvantari Mantra is the main mantra to invoke the energy of Dhanvantari, a form of Narayana that is considered as the god of Ayurveda. He is the celestial healer, one who can bless us with health and long life. The mantras are chanted with clear pronunciation in the proper Vedic intonation, and at a slow speed which makes it ideal for meditation. namaami dhanvantarim aadidevam, suraasurair vandita paadapadmam | loke jaraaruk bhaya mrityunaasham, dhaataaram eesham vividhaushadhinaam || Meaning: I bow down in front of you Lord Dhanvantari, who is the first among Gods. Your lotus feet are respectfully worshipped by the gods and demons alike. You have the power to save the people from the miseries of diseases, ageing, fear of death and other sufferings. Oh Lord, you are the One who provides the various medicines and cures. It has a special benefit to chant these mantras 108 times. The number 108 is significant as the nine planets moving through twelve constellations create 108 different effects or influences on our lives, and thus chanting a mantra 108 times has a beneficial effect on all these different vibrations. To make your mantra practice really effective, chant the mantra, or listen to it in a meditative state, every day – this will make it more and more powerful. It is said that when one chants or listens to the mantra daily, for a certain number of days, the mantra becomes like a Kavacham, or an ‘armour’, that protects the person from negativity and harm, both on the gross and subtle level. This chant is part of the album Mantra Kavacham, by Swami Purnachaitanya. Swami Purnachaitanya is a disciple of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and is originally from The Netherlands.
