Worksop, Nottinghamshire. At a factory “near Sherwood Forest“ we see the processes involved in making bows and arrows for archery: curved, laminated pieces of rosewood and maple are glued together then shaped on a sanding machine. The bow is then put on a machine to test the tension. Roy Matthews, British Champion Archer is seen holding his made-to-measure bow; he hands it back to one of the craftsmen to file a little more off the grip of the bow. Various shots show the arrows being made and fitted with flights made from turkey feathers. The feathers are shaped on a red hot wire, then a girl paints rings around the shafts while they rotate on a special machine.
