This song was born from the magic that is the Ozarks. Several years ago, I was riding my horse Lil' Bit and we wanted to do some exploring a little deeper in an area less familiar to us. It was mid-summer. The land was alive with the sounds of the overflowing streams, rivers, birds, and that gentle breeze that was rustling the long grass that we were wading through. The moment was perfect I started hearing a banjo... Here I was in the middle of nowhere hearing a banjo play!...it felt like I was in a movie! We followed the sound. Soon a fiddle started weaving around those rustic banjo notes. We kept following the music until we came to a river and right across that river was a couple jamming out barefooted by a campfire. The banjo player had a beard down to his navel. I was so enamored, Lil' Bit and I just stood there taking in such a soul filling moment. Eventually I called out to them to express my gratitude for sharing their talents! They were so kind and invited me to come back and listen to more music in the future. I will never forget it. Lil' Bit and I rode home afterwards and I felt completely renewed by what had just happened. I have so many people to thank for making this video happen! Thank you to Jodi and Michael Goldsmith for generously letting me use Southbound Bar and Grill for our opening scene! They so kindly let me play here when I was new and learning how this whole music scene works! They continuously support live and original music! They are such a gem to all in the Ozarks! Thank you so Dillon Hastens for generously letting us use his beautiful truck! Dillon gifted his time and gas to make it happen! Thank you to my husband, my parents, and our dear friends the McClures for all of their support and for supplying the land which we used to shoot all of these scenes! Thank you to my horse Lil' Bit for being by my side since I was 8 years old. She's been a part of every single facet of my life and no words can truly express how deep my love is for her. She passed away in February this year and though my heart is heavy that this will be our last project together, she gave me more joy during her lifetime than I could have ever thought possible. I love you my sweet girl. Finally, the biggest thanks of them all, thank you Evan Lawler for taking on this project in its entirety! Thank you for having such a love and passion for this land. I knew you'd hit a home run with directing and producing this music video. Finding time amongst running successful businesses and raising two babies isn't easy, but you gave this project life and I will forever be grateful! Ozarks Lyrics: V1 If you walk into the forest away from the city take a breath You’ll hear a banjo get a little nitty gritty- nitty gritty V2 The creek in my back forty Is named after Tom Sawyer I’d climb that Sycamore tree Hanging over that Narrow water - I’m nature’s daughter Pre This ground that raised me soon will change you too Let me show you, let me show you Chorus Would you meet me where the land itself screams a country song Where the hills and heavens touch In this place where wild dreams run We can fall in love where fireflies outshine the stars Come find my beating heart Oh meet me In the Deep Ozarks V3 There’s a beauty in it all From the colors of the fall To the Dogwood Falls, oh once you see it You’ll never leave it Repeat Chorus Bridge This ground that raised me soon will change you too Let me show you, let me show you Repeat Chorus Tik Tok: @lauraashleymusic Facebook: X: Instagram: Website:
