The Penguins and the Blues face off on St. Patricks day in St. Louis. In the first minute of the game, the Penguins put themselves shorthanded by 2 men. Tristan Jarry along with a great defensive team was able to kill both of the penalties. Chad Ruhwedel put the Penguins on the board first with a slap shot from the blue line. In the second period Mike Matheson finds the back of the net and furthers the Penguins lead. Former Penguin, David Perron, scores a goal for the Blues, ending the period 2-1, Penguins. Early in the third period, Ivan Barbashev scores a goal and ties up the game. The game goes into overtime, where neither team scores. Bryan Rust is the only one of 8 players to score in the shoot out, winning the game for the Penguins. Pittsburgh now has wins in four of its last five visits to St. Louis.
