South Korean Chip Factories Announce Shutdown of Lithography Machines Due to Lack of Chinese Orders

On August 24th, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced partial suspension of Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines due to low semiconductor demand. Similar challenges are affecting South Korean semiconductor factories due to the loss of a crucial customer, China. Reports reveal that South Korean chip companies like DB Hitek are operating at reduced production capacity. Samsung Semiconductor and Key Foundry are also facing lower utilization rates, compelling maintenance and equipment halts. To cut costs, South Korean chip factories are implementing price reduction strategies.
