Classic payday for Rosallion - and one of the best days in the training career of Richard Hannon! His father has won this race several times, most recently with the top-class Canford Cliffs little over a decade ago, and the current trainer said such comparisons with arguably the best horse to be trained by the family over several decades were worthy after a breakthrough Classic success and Group 1 win at three in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas under jockey Sean Levey for owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum. Positioned a little off the pace, Rosallion had to show a real change of gear in the closing stages but he certainly picked up in the style of a top-class coly and looked at his best just by the line, picking up his stablemate and Craven winner Haatem in the shadows of the post on a memorable day for the stable. Rosallion and Haatem finished second and third in the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newarket last time, but there was redemption of sorts for both in the Curragh Classic while potentially setting up a much-anticipated rematch with Newmarket winner Notable Speech in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. Watch the big race and hear Hannon heap praise on his noble runner-up Haatem and rider Sean Levey as well as the winner - one the trainer hopes will stay in training next year at four and a colt he can see relishing the test of the Breeders' Cup Mile later in the year... #horseracing #horse #horses Must-see compilations and best bits ➡️ Greatest Hits!
