Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here: An elderly couple in northern China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region has spent nearly 20 years transforming part of their desert home into an oasis. Seventy-year-old Tububatu and his wife live in a village on the edge of the Badain Jaran desert, China’s third-largest desert. The couple planted 266 hectares (657 acres) of desert with the highly drought-resistant sacsaoul trees (haloxylon plants) since his retirement in 2002.
