ブラジルに住む大学生から「内村茂太の『僕の新婚旅行』が見たいが、どうにかならないか」とのメールをいただいた。この８ミリ映画は、何度も私が東京での上映会で上映させてもらった作品だ。個人的には、今世紀に入ってから作られた８ミリ映画の中で、最高傑作だと思っている。「どうしたもんですかねぇ」と内村さんにメールを出した。すると内村氏は見せてあげることに乗り気のようだった。そこで私は「それなら、英語字幕をつけてYouTube公開しましょう」と提案したのだった。 最初にメールをくれたブラジルの人に尋ねてみると「世の中に知られていない実験映画作家を見つけろ」という学校の授業での課題があって、それでネットで調べた結果、内村さんのこの作品にたどりついたらしい。すごいなブラジル。 別にこれまでこの作品を隠しておこうと思っていたわけではないのだが、日本から見て地球の裏側に住む人にまで知られてしまったのだから、もう観念してYouTubeでの公開をすることにしましょう。ほのぼのしていながら、日常からの逸脱に貫かれたこの作品をどうぞお楽しみください。(山崎幹夫) I received an e-mail from a university student living in Brazil saying, “I want to see Shigeta Uchimura's 'My Honeymoon', but I don't know how to do it.” This 8mm film is one that I have screened many times at screenings in Tokyo. Personally, I think it's the best 8mm film made since the turn of the century. I sent an e-mail to Mr. Uchimura, “What should I do?“ Mr. Uchimura seemed enthusiastic about showing it to her. So I suggested, “In that case, let's add English subtitles and upload it to YouTube.” When I asked the person who sent me the first email from Brazil, I found that she had a class assignment at school that said, ``Find an unknown experimental filmmaker. Amazing Brazil. I didn't mean to hide this work until now, but if it is known to people living on the other side of the world from Japan, I will upload it to YouTube. We hope you will enjoy this work, which is heartwarming yet deviates from everyday life. (Mikio Yamazaki)
