Kawaii and colorful fashion at a Japanese decora meetup in Tokyo's famous Harajuku fashion district. Decora is a Japanese subculture that revolves around colorful outfits with lots of cute accessories - especially brightly colored plastic hair clips. Decora was extremely popular in Harajuku in the early 2000s, with hundreds of decora gathering on the Jingu Bashi bridge every weekend to hang out with their friends, trade fashion tips, and have fun. Today's Japanese decora - while not in the numbers they once were - still carry on the tradition of bright colorful clothing and lots of accessories, while adding their own personal touches to the style. Recently, we've also seen an increase in people mixing decora with shironuri, which you can see in a couple of these looks. This Harajuku decora meetup was a chance for several of Tokyo's decora to get together and have fun while spending the day wandering around Harajuku together. The day ended with ice cream! We will be posting street snaps of each of the decora outfits from the decora meetup - please check back soon for the link. The organizer of this Harajuku Decora meetup was: We thank her for inviting us to film the event - and a big thank you to all of the decora who we met!
