WORLD PREMIERE RECORDING ON DVD Based on the well known mythological story narrated by Ovid in the Metamorphoses, this is a classical tale of love and jealousy. The giant Polyphemus tries to force his attention on the fair sea-nymph Galatea, who is in love with the shepherd Acis. When mad jealousy drives Polyphemus to kill his rival, Galatea asks her father Nereus to turn Acis' blood into a river, so that, flowing into the sea, he will join her forevermore. Director David Livermore uses the double as a means of amplifying the emotions; by doing so the singers reproduceon stage what the music does with the varied da capo aria. This is a touching, elegant masterpiece composed by a young Handel. Details: More on Amazon:
