This video shows my build of the ICM 1/48 scale Gotha Go242A transport glider from WW2. Just over 1,500 of these aircraft were manufactured and the type played an important role both on the Eastern Front and in the Mediterranean. The subsequent Go242B variant had a different undercarriage arrangement, and the Go244B was a powered version using French-designed Gnome Rhone radial engines. All three of these variants are available in the ICM range in 1/48 scale. The colour scheme is based on a contemporary wartime photo, but while interesting to look at, the application of the scheme appears to have been used to deliberately obscure most of the fuselage codes, therefore the unit this glider was attached to is not known. Given the restricted amount of visibility of the codes, I decided to complete the model in the markings of 1.(Go)/Verbindungskommando (S) 4, as this is one of at least three possibilities that best match the partially visible characters shown in the photograph. I hope you enjoy the video. __________ The materials used in the construction of this model have all been purchased using my own funds, and no-one has sponsored me to undertake this work. __________ Music tracks in this video: - Rain Fuse - French Fuse (YouTube) - Recent - Alec Slayne () - Warped by Light - Jay Varton () - Running Through the Dark - Roots & Recognition () - Chariots - Gavin Luke () - Get out - Alec Slayne () - The Vindicator Waltz - Formant X ()
