Lau Gar Kuen is derived from a form of boxing practiced at Kuei Ling Temple situated in Guangxi Province of Western China. Lau Family Fist was learned from a monk on retreat from that temple by Master Lau Sam Ngan, a tiger hunter nicknamed 3 Eyes Lau. Lau Gar style subsequently became popular over a large part of Southwest China. In fact, all southern congfu systems are derived from 5 major styles: Lau, Hung, Choy, Li Mok.
