I don’t usually write songs in the back of a tour bus but when I do, I come out with songs like this one. 1997 was the year we first started touring on a bus for most tours, so from then on it was always a little easier to find private time to write songs. I’d just go to the back lounge where there’s basically a couch and a side table. Lot’s of space for playing guitar and singing. The only time I had issues was when Tom was back there playing video games for hours!! Usually it was him and someone else battling it out on the latest Madden Game. In the van days I would just pull the guitar out in the van and try to write in front of everyone and it was super awkward for me. I did manage to write “New York to Nowhere” in the van with the guys right there but that’s another story! It’s like hanging out naked with your best buds.. haha.
