Silver Convention started out as Silver Bird Convention in late 1974 when Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze decided to do “Disco Made In Germany“, inspired from the sounds that came across the Atlantic Ocean from Philadelphia. The result was the record “Save Me“, with vocals by Gitta Walther & American Lucy Neale of Love Generation, together with American singer Roberta Kelly, and British singer Betsy Allen. It was presented at MIDEM, January 1975, and was immediately signed to labels all over Europe. Encouraged by the response, Kunze & Levay got back into the studio to complete a full album. Promotional photos were sent out to Europe with a Les Humphries-inspired multicultural ensemble, but this idea was quickly abandoned in favour of a trio to represent Silver Convention.
