Our tune today is Goodbye, Farewell So Long by Biff familliar with Collie? I wasn't either. Here is a short bio by AllMusic: Biff Collie Biography by AllMusic b. 25 November 1926, Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, d. 19 February 1992, Brentwood, Tennessee, USA. One of the most respected and knowledgeable producers and disc jockeys to have played country music, Collie spent over three decades spinning records and endearing himself to his listeners on several stations including KLEE, KNUZ and KPRC (Houston) and KFOX and KLAC (Los Angeles). He also appeared on several television programmes and worked hard in the founding of the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. His wife Shirley (b. Shirley Caddell, 16 March 1931, Chillicothe, Missouri, USA) sang on various shows including the Brush Creek Follies and, in 1962, she scored a Top 10 hit with ‘Willingly’, a duet with Willie Nelson. She subsequently divorced Collie to become the second Mrs. Nelson, leading Bif to state: ‘If there’s any man I’d like to have run off with my wife, it would be Willie Nelson’. When people asked Bif why he kept playing Nelson’s records, he said, ‘Hell, it’s my job to play the best music and Willie is one of the best no matter whose wife he’s with’. In 1972, Collie, recording for United Artists Records under the pseudonym of Billy Bob Bowman, had a minor hit with ‘Miss Pauline’. He was elected to the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall Of Fame in 1978 and died of cancer in 1992.
