Let Jack take you way on back… Country music is so many things to so many people, and with his latest release Jack Lorry takes you on a trip back to a time between Hank Williams and Johnny Cash; a time between Mountain Music and Rock’n’Roll; a time when no one quite knew exactly what music they were making, but golly gee they had fun making it! “The Rockin Hillbilly” is Jack Lorry’s second full length album, following on from his 2019 debut “Days On The Road”. This time around Jack has picked up where artists like Carl Perkins and Eddie Cochran left off, and brings you a fun filled, foot stomping offering full of irresistibly danceable numbers somewhere between Country, Hillbilly, Blues and Rockabilly! Leading off with the Carl Perkins-esque rockabilly inspired “Rockin Little Filly” Jack transports you back to the honkytonks and country halls of the early 1950’s, and keeps you jivin’ along with “Tonight’s The Night”, “Rock Tonight Away” and “Outta My Mind”. “I Don’t Miss Missing You” has an infectious swagger that you’ll swear you remember from your grandparent’s record collection, and “Lover Of Mine” oozes the sensuality and soul that you can only find at 3am in some darkened saloon in downtown Memphis. “The Country Music Family” rounds out Jack’s 2023 album with a bit of a generational change, taking you on a tongue-in-cheek ride from the Sun Records 1950’s days, via Bakersfield meeting up with Buck Owens and through to the Outlaw Country era of 1970’s Waylon Jennings and David Allan Coe. This fun filled romp might sound a little pointed at times, but as Jack reminds us at the end, ain’t it all a bit of fun?
