Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman is a 2005 British drama film about the life of Albert Pierrepoint, one of England's most prolific executioners. The film stars Timothy Spall, Juliet Stevenson and Eddie Marsan. The film details how Pierrepoint followed his uncle and father into the role of hangman, and the nature of his role as the times and perceptions of the death penalty changed. Pierrepoint executed some of the most famous murderers of his time; including Ruth Ellis, John Reginald Christie and John George Haigh. The film is directed by Adrian Shergold and written by Jeff Pope & Bob Mills.
