Llawhaden - A Castle Fit For A Bishop

Llawhaden started life as an earth and timber castle used for defensive purposes. It was fortified in stone during the 12th century. In the 13th Century the Bishop of St David's made great changes to the castle, turning it into more of a grand residence although a garrison of soldiers remained. It fell into ruin during the 16th century and stone was taken and used for other buildings. For more detailed info please follow the link :
