At the 2021 European Youth Championships in Varazdin (CRO), Daniel Rinderer and Kay Stumper made it to the semifinals (SF) of the Under 19 junior boy’s doubles (JBD) event. There, they had to face the Polish duo Maciej Kubik/Samuel Kulczycki. As there is no third place playoff, both duos had already secured their place at the medal rostrum. All results for Rinderer/Stumper (JBD): R64: Rinderer/Stumper vs Godec/Zigon (SLO) - 3:0 R32: Rinderer/Stumper vs Petek/Zlatkov (CRO) - 3:0 R16: Rinderer/Stumper vs Grebeniuk/Tretiak (UKR) - 3:1 QF: Rinderer/Stumper vs Capuccio/Puppo (ITA) - 3:0 SF: Rinderer/Stumper vs Kubik/Kulczycki (POL) - 2:3 It is a shame that Daniel and Kay could not keep up the pressure from the second and third game. Still, the long COVID19 pandemic made doubles training difficult if even allowed and the German boys did a good job even reaching the semifinal. Congratulations to the bronze medal, Daniel and Kay!
