Defining characteristics of the style include long introductions, slow BPM (in the range of 90-140 BPM), and focus on a dark atmosphere. Dungeon Rap is also a primarily instrumental genre; vocals, if present at all, are taken from samples and mixed low. Unlike other genres, which often evolve more “naturally“, Dungeon Rap can easily be traced back to a single artist and release Dungeon Rap has its origin in 2018 with the release of DJ Armok’s God of Blood (Demo) 1998. The following year, this EP, along with Komm Nicht Rein was included in the compilation Dungeon Rap: The Introduction, a split release featuring two aliases of DJ Sacred (who made the first two mentioned releases) and DJ Bishop.
