This sustainable house extension by Ben Callery Architects redefines expectations by prioritising quality over quantity. Designed for a growing family, the single-level home features an open-plan living area, three bedrooms, a flexible guest room, and more on a compact Northcote site. Despite challenges, the architects seamlessly integrated the house with the garden, aligning with the owners' aspiration for a garden pavilion. Sam Cox Landscape's natural garden design complements the extension's aesthetic, creating a harmonious indoor-outdoor connection. Sustainability was a strong focus, with the home being all-electric powered by a 9kWh solar-power system, with passive elements like cross-ventilation, good ideal orientation and double-glazing. The sustainable contemporary extension allows the owners to interact with the elements and allow them to live in their garden. Website article with photographs and the floor plan;
