VHS recording from May 1995 of the BBC’s ‘VE50’, VE Day 50th anniversary coverage. 7th May 1995, BBC 1 It’s a Lovely Day Tomorrow: The Royal British Legion VE Day Celebration Concert in Hyde Park, London. On the large stage constructed for the event, a cast of 2,000 including Dame Vera Lynn, Ute Lemper, Elaine Paige and Cliff Richard, with musicians, pipers, dancers and a massed choir chart the course of the war through the songs of the period that proved such a boost to Allied morale. Bringing the evening to an emotional end, Vera Lynn leads a rendition of Land of Hope and Glory. Guest narrators include Wendy Craig , Michael Denison and Dulcie Gray, Hannah Gordon and Dorothy Tutin. _____ 2020's VE75 celebrations have been scaled back due to CV-19.
