In this Screen Gems outtake, former president Harry S. Truman describes a plan, while standing in front of a screen with a map of the Middle East, to pump the Mediterranean Sea into the Dead Sea as a source of power. In Iraq, he studied the Tigris and Euphrates River Valley as a potential place for the settlement of people. Old canals could be used to put the rivers to work, like in the days of Ninevah and Babylon. A survey was completed by the Tennessee Valley Authority. This item is from the Screen Gems Collection. The Screen Gems Collection consists of outtakes created during the production of the film series, “Decision: The Conflicts of Harry S. Truman“ which aired on television in 1964 and 1965.
