The Siberian lynx (Lynx lynx wrangeli) is a subspecies of the Eurasian lynx that inhabits the boreal forests of eastern Russia, northern China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan. It is one of the largest and most powerful felids in the world, with an average body length of 80-130 cm and a weight of 18-30 kg. The Siberian lynx has a thick fur coat that varies in color from light gray to reddish-brown, with black spots and stripes. It has long legs, large paws, tufted ears and a short tail. The Siberian lynx is a solitary and secretive animal that hunts mainly at night or dusk. It preys on a variety of animals, such as hares, rodents, birds, deer and wild boar. The Siberian lynx is adapted to the harsh climate of its range, with a low metabolic rate and a high tolerance for cold. It can survive in temperatures as low as -40°C. The Siberian lynx is classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, but it faces threats from habitat loss, poaching and conflicts with humans and livestock.
