Holiday Sport Aka Walking Race - Croydon To Godstone (1920)

The Croydon to Godstone walking race. Full title reads: “HOLIDAY SPORT“ 'After dinner walk a mile“.- “but the members of Surrey W.C. walked 18 3/4's from Croydon to Godstone and back-“ M/S Looking down quiet rural road on what appears to be a very cold day. There are many roadside trees to left of the picture, we briefly see on of the athletes walking off screen to the right. Two smartly dressed men wearing jackets and ties follow on bicycles, a small group of onlookers gather on the roadside. Various other M/S's of other athletes performing the peculiar walk as they pass the camera. They are wearing a selection of Jumpers gloves and not so warm looking shorts!. Some appear to be in remarkably good spirits and happily chat with there nearest fellow competitor. Behind the athletes follows more bicycles and a car.
