We are Lucas K-9 – a company founded on a passion for performance dogs. For those who want to find out more about how we handle and train our dogs, please be sure to check out the pictures and videos included on this website If you are looking for police dogs searching for drugs or explosives, as well as sniffer (detecting) dogs or dual purpose patrol dogs, it is definitely the right place. For several years we have been providing pre-trained dogs to both police departments and the armed forces around the world. Our German Shepherds, Malinois and Labradors come from countries of Eastern Europe (Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Russia) The Dutch Shepherd is a pleasure to train. This breed is intelligent – in fact, it is believed to be the most competent of all shepherd dogs, especially when it comes to agility, obedience competitions, guard duty, herding, and field trailing. This also makes the breed a great choice for service duty, police work and search and rescue training. Because this breed is so smart, it’s important to establish your role as the pack leader. Your Dutch Shepherd must learn his place within the family unit. Because this dog will show his dominance through growling and biting, your role must be established right from the start. Once leadership has been established, the Dutch Shepherd will work with you and can work independently with any task you assign. Even though this is a friendly dog toward people he knows, the Dutch Shepherd will let you know when a stranger comes close to your home. Since he was bred to watch over flocks, his guarding skills are transferable to your home. Reliable, alert, intelligent, and intuitive, the Dutch Shepherd is loyal to his family. You’ll find this dog to be affectionate, happy and obedient – a wonderful combination in a dog. If you have other dogs in your household, no problem; this breed likes other animals. To keep him happy, the Dutch Shepherd needs plenty of physical and mental stimulation. This is an independent breed, so the Dutch Shepherd can have a will of its own. Most of all, this dog loves attention and loves to learn.
