Learn some useful pet portrait painting tips. In this video I break down my oil painting process and show you how I have painted this black dog. I discus the issues of using black and how to create form by varying the temperature of your black. I use the sphere as a general painting example. I then discuss how to create rhythm in your paintings before moving on to the dog portrait time lapse video in order to help improve your animal painting technique. The colours used in this painting are Windsor and Newton: lamp black, indian red, raw sienna, indian yellow, cadmium red, raw umber, titanium white. Painted on to 280gsm all purpose paper. The paper has been covered with a wash of turpentine and raw sienna prior to painting. This needs to dry thoroughly before starting. I try and post weekly.
